Different forms of therapy, like cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, psychoanalysis, etc., involve the process of sharing their problems and negative emotions. Talking about the problem and expressing the distressful emotions to a loved one or a psychologist can make the individual feel relief, and research studies state that it reduces stress and strengthens our immune system.<\/p>\n<p>Not sharing the concern with others, keeping it to oneself, and suppressing the emotions can make an individual overwhelmed with their problem and cause mental disturbances. Lamenting and confiding in someone can make the individual feel heard and validated. In many situations, it becomes difficult to express and talk about our problems. In such situations, writing about the issue and negative emotions is effective, as <em><strong>\u201cpaper is a good listener.\u201d <\/strong><\/em>Journaling and worksheets are given by psychologists to their clients to practice expressing their thoughts and feelings.<\/p>\n<h5>Here are some of the reasons why talking helps:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Makes you feel \u201cyou are not alone\u201d or you are not the only one going through the tough time.<\/li>\n<li>Sometimes all an individual expect is a listening ear than someone to solve their problem.<\/li>\n<li>Decline the mental distress.<\/li>\n<li>Can help you break down your problem<\/li>\n<li>Talking to psychologist can help understand and have a different perspective on your issues and experiences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>When you think you are ready to engage in a \u201cTalk\u201d here are few things to be aware of:<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Choose the appropriate mode of communication \u2013 <\/strong>Some find it easy to talk in a face to face interaction, some prefer a telephonic conversation or writing it to the person. Choose a mode that is comfortable for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Find a suitable time \u2013 <\/strong>To share your problem to someone it is essential to check on the availability of the person.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Think of the things you want to share<\/strong> \u2013 Sometimes over sharing can cause more distress and vulnerability. Be mindful of what you want to share and not share.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Choice of a person<\/strong> &#8211; Talk to someone who is trustworthy and matured enough to understand and listen to your problem. Some people could be insensitive and take time in understanding your problem.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Talk to a professional<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Talk therapy is an effective therapy where you are provided with a safe space to communicate your problems, thoughts, and emotions. Talk therapy gives you fresh, practical strategies for managing your suffering and how it affects your life.<br \/>\nIt can assist you in recovering from trauma, depression, anxiety, and other symptoms, conditions, and problems linked to mental health.<br \/>\nYou can discuss your mental health concerns with a reliable and objective person in psychotherapy. It has the potential to improve both your life and your experience.<br \/>\nIt might lower the long-term chances of mental illnesses.<\/p>\n<p>There are different approaches to talk therapy. Mental health professionals will use different styles of talk therapy when treating certain mental health conditions. However, they are mindful of the approaches and use the one that is suitable and aimed at the client\u2019s well-being.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cognitive Behavioural Therapy<\/li>\n<li>Solution Focused Brief
